Thank you for inviting me to judge your breed show. The arrangements and hospitality were first class and my ring secretaries were friendly and effecient. A special word of thanks to the breeders and exhibitors for having a passion for a native Irish breed and for the nice atmosphere at the show. It must be well over 15 years since I judged a wheaten breed show in Sweden and in my opinion the quality has improved and is more level than it was years ago. There is still a large variation in size but as long as quality is mantained I would not like a tape or a weighting scales to dominate the breed. On the positive side the coats have improved and although there are many degrees between wrong and right I do believe there are plenty of correct coats across many of your breeders. Bodies, toplines, mouths, and movement were quite good and you seem to have got rid of "The Turtle Terriers# that looked more like a Pastoral breed with no obvious terrier characteristics and outline. On the negative, side heads need to improve. A lot of skulls were too rough and quite a few short weak forfaces. I think breeders should try to improve the hindquarters and tail sets as these features give correct movement and good outline. I was looking for a stylish well made dog showing real terrier temprement and great ring presence, all of this covered in a nice shiney wheaten coloured coat. I found this in most of my principle winners particularly in the best of breed competition. The male had an absolute stunning head and expressin, correct coat and really well made hindquarters. The bitch, once again correct coat, and one of the truest moving terriers I have judged in recent times. It was very close but I gave it to the Male as he brings that beautiful head that is rarley found. Sean Delmar, Judge Foto Agneta Lindström Reportage
